PSTN vs ISDN

“PSTN” means “Public Switched Telephone Network,” and “ISDN” means “Integrated Services Digital Network.”

1.PSTN lines are analogue while ISDN lines are digital.
2.When comparing the two networks, the PSTN lines are used for small companies and ISDL are used for bigger companies.
3.The ISDN provides 128 kbps, which is really good for the Internet. PSTN (maximum rate of 56kbps) has a disadvantage that it does not make the most possible use of the broadband.
4.While PSTN does not allow two simultaneous connections, it is allowed in ISDN service.
5.When using ISDN, one can make faster calls than when using the PSTN.6.Both are mostly obsolete now with Ethernet and TCP/IP based networks and the Internet providing all that and a lot more.

Telephone numbers in Cambodia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Country Code: +855
International Call Prefix: 00x (001,004,005,006,007,008 and 009)
Trunk prefix: 0

Land Lines[edit]

To dial a land line in Cambodia all over the country, the format is Area Code + Phone Number. The area code is 3 digits long, followed by a 6 or 7 digit phone number.

Calls made from outside Cambodia must omit the prefix 0. Therefore to call a land line number in Phnom Penh from other countries, dialing begins with +855 23 followed by 6 or 7 digits.[1]

NFC – Near Field Communication

How NFC Works

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi seem similar to near field communication on the surface. All three allow wireless communication and data exchange between digital devices like smartphones. Yet near field communication utilizes electromagnetic radio fields while technologies such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi focus on radio transmissions instead.

Near field communication, or NFC for short, is an offshoot of radio-frequency identification (RFID) with the exception that NFC is designed for use by devices within close proximity to each other. Three forms of NFC technology exist: Type A, Type B, and FeliCa. All are similar but communicate in slightly different ways. FeliCa is commonly found in Japan.

Devices using NFC may be active or passive. A passive device, such as an NFC tag, contains information that other devices can read but does not read any information itself. Think of a passive device as a sign on a wall. Others can read the information, but the sign itself does nothing except transmit the info to authorized devices.

Active devices can read information and send it. An active NFC device, like a smartphone, would not only be able to collect information from NFC tags, but it would also be able to exchange information with other compatible phones or devices and could even alter the information on the NFC tag if authorized to make such changes.

To ensure security, NFC often establishes a secure channel and uses encryption when sending sensitive information such as credit card numbers. Users can further protect their private data by keeping anti-virus software on their smartphones and adding a password to the phone so a thief cannot use it in the event that the smartphone is lost or stolen. For more information on the specifications and different forms of NFC technology, view the rest of our technology pages.

By Jan Gordon
Excellent Manager

n excellent manager taps into talents and resources in order to support and bring out the best in others. An outstanding manager evokes possibility in others.

1. Creativity

Creativity is what separates competence from excellence. Creativity is the spark that propels projects forward and that captures peoples’ attention. Creativity is the ingredient that pulls the different pieces together into a cohesive whole, adding zest and appeal in the process.

2. Structure

The context and structure we work within always have a set of parameters, limitations and guidelines. A stellar manager knows how to work within the structure and not let the structure impinge upon the process or the project. Know the structure intimately, so as to guide others to effectively work within the given parameters. Do this to expand beyond the boundaries.

3. Intuition

Intuition is the capacity of knowing without the use of rational processes; it’s the cornerstone of emotional intelligence. People with keen insight are often able to sense what others are feeling and thinking; consequently, they’re able to respond perfectly to another through their deeper understanding. The stronger one’s intuition, the stronger manager one will be.

4. Knowledge

A thorough knowledge base is essential. The knowledge base must be so ingrained and integrated into their being that they become transparent, focusing on the employee and what s/he needs to learn, versus focusing on the knowledge base. The excellent manager lives from a knowledge base, without having to draw attention to it.

5. Commitment

A manager is committed to the success of the project and of all team members. S/he holds the vision for the collective team and moves the team closer to the end result. It’s the manager’s commitment that pulls the team forward during trying times.

6. Being Human

Employees value leaders who are human and who don’t hide behind their authority. The best leaders are those who aren’t afraid to be themselves. Managers who respect and connect with others on a human level inspire great loyalty.

7. Versatility

Flexibility and versatility are valuable qualities in a manager. Beneath the flexibility and versatility is an ability to be both non-reactive and not attached to how things have to be. Versatility implies an openness – this openness allows the leader to quickly change on a dime when necessary. Flexibility and versatility are the pathways to speedy responsiveness.

8. Lightness

A stellar manager doesn’t just produce outstanding results; s/he has fun in the process! Lightness doesn’t impede results but rather, helps to move the team forward. Lightness complements the seriousness of the task at hand as well as the resolve of the team, therefore contributing to strong team results and retention.

9. Discipline/Focus

Discipline is the ability to choose and live from what one pays attention to. Discipline as self-mastery can be exhilarating! Role model the ability to live from your intention consistently and you’ll role model an important leadership quality.

10. Big Picture, Small Actions

Excellent managers see the big picture concurrent with managing the details. Small actions lead to the big picture; the excellent manager is skilful at doing both: think big while also paying attention to the details.
