1965 first multi-user computer system called Multics by Bell Labs & Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
1969 Ken Thompson & Dennis Ritchie (Unics to Unix)
1973 Rewrote Unix using C
1983 Launched GNU’s project by Richard M. Stallman
1991 Linus Torvalds wrote the source code for the kernel, Linux & made it available on the Internet, then combined with GNU called GNU/Linux, then Linux only.
Tux, the Linux Penguin, is the official mascot.
